Umdlalo Lodge Wedding Terms and Conditions
Umdlalo
Lodge is situated in Umtentweni on the beautiful south coast of Natal .
The Lodge is only an hour's drive south of Durban and within easy
access of the N2, Port Shepstone and Margate . Umdlalo Lodge offers
upmarket luxurious suites, accommodating a maximum of 18 guests
sharing. All our rooms are en-suite and lead out into a central garden
courtyard.
We offer you the opportunity to hold your
ceremony in the lodges' lavish garden, as well as celebrating your
reception in our well established restaurant venue, "Zizis" Up to 80
guests can be seated in the restaurant with a dance floor on the
outside verandah.
Should you be hosting up to 120 guests, please
take note that 4 tables will have to be placed on the outside verandah.
Venue Hire
On average the venue hire will be charged at R 4 000 however this rate
may change depending on the season and when during the week the wedding
is to be held.
Staff
Staff
payment (Waiters and Barmen) are set at a cost of R120.00 per waiter /
barman per shift. Overtime for waiters / barmen is at R120.00 per hour
per waiter / barman. Shift is from 16:00-24:00. All staff must be paid
overtime after 24:00.
A 10% service fee will be added to the final
account as a gratuity for the waiters, barmen and kitchen staff.
The minimum numbers for waiters is one per 10
guests. The headwaiter will be assigned to look after only the main
table.
Services
We
are able to offer a cash bar or run a tab. Please note: as we are a
licensed establishment, no hard liquor, fireworks or drugs may be
brought on to the premises. Should this occur we are obliged to take
the necessary steps, and legal action will be taken. Corkage will be
charged at R15 per bottle of wine.

making your conference enquiry.
There
will be additional costs for hiring of chairs, tables and cloths in
excess of the 80 that we have on hand. Should you not wish to make use
of our burgundy overlays and cream tablecloths, all linen will have to
be provided by yourself, according to the colour scheme you choose.
Honeymoon Suite
There
is a 10% discount on your accommodation bill for every room that you
can fill i.e.: If your family takes 8 rooms on your wedding night you
get an 80% discount on the honeymoon suite and would pay for the two of
you, including bed and breakfast (Less 80%). If none of the family
decides to stay here, you will get a 20% discount on the wedding night,
and would pay for the two of you, including bed and breakfast (Less
20%).
All menu options are priced
according to ingredients. There are 3 menu options to suit your budget.
Please inform us of any food allergies or vegetarians attending your
reception. If this is not confirmed before the reception, we will not
be able to cater for the specific guests' dietary requirements as our
meals are specifically catered for per head. Please let us know whether
the photographer and DJ need to be included for meals.
Should you require snack platters before your
meal, please schedule an appointment with our Chef, to discuss your
options.
Please note:
- Menu prices are subject to change in case of
extreme price increases or shortages.
- Children under the age of eight years will be
charged 50% of the agreed adult menu price.
- No food may be brought onto the premises.
Furniture and Equipment
The
provision of Umdlalo Lodges' standard furniture and equipment is at no
extra charge. Any additional items should be supplied or hired by the
client at the clients' cost.
We cannot allow candles
to be placed directly on the linen, and reserve the right to remove the
candles if necessary. Candle holders must be wide enough to ensure no
wax damage to the linen.
No permanent changes are
allowed, that includes nails or hooks in the walls, roof or frames. Any
damage to property including linen, beyond reasonable wear and tear
will be charged for accordingly.
Umdlalo Lodge will not be held liable for
interruptions of services (water, electricity, sanitary services)
Whilst
every precaution will be taken to ensure the safeguarding of your
belongings, Umdlalo Lodge will not be liable for loss or damage to any
property whatsoever (décor, props, valuables etc). We recommend
that all personal and valuable property be removed directly after the
reception.
Décor and props must be removed by
13:00 the following day. Any items not removed within 7 days of being
placed in storage will be discarded. Umdlalo Lodge does not accept
liability for loss or damage of any item during this period.

Lodge, its' employees or any person employed at any function will not
be held liable for any loss or injury to persons, due to negligence or
any cause whatsoever
Bar Services
We
require clients to brief us regarding their requirements for the
provision of a Full Bar, Wine and Malt Bar or Cash Bar. A request can
be made for certain items to be excluded from the bar list.
Clients
are welcome to set a limit on the on the total bar expenditure for
their account. In order to maintain control of this account, we will
supply a regular reconciliation of the bar account during the function.
No alcohol or other form of beverage may be brought onto the premises.
Deposits
Deposits
are important and require your understanding of our position in this
respect. Having confirmed your booking we have concluded a contract and
are holding the venue exclusively for your use, whilst denying other
enquiries the opportunity to use our facilities. Cancellation often
involves our not being able to re-let the venue and there is obviously
an economic cost involved. A deposit serves as an incentive for the
guest to fulfil his / her obligations under the contract, and whilst
most of our guests are honourable, in our trade we are surprised at the
customers who simply do not show the courtesy of arriving.
In
order to secure your wedding at Umdlalo Lodge we require a deposit of
R5000.00. Should the wedding be cancelled within 90 days of the
confirmed date, you will be refunded the full amount. The balance of
the wedding as quoted must be paid in the week leading up to the
wedding. All extras on the night, such as the bar account, wedding
suite and waiters gratuity can be settled on the morning of departure.
Please note that the following need to arranged by
you:
- Music
- Photographer
- Flowers
- Decorations on veranda and dining room
- Wedding Cake and Wedding knife
- Table allocations, name cards and seating plan
for the day
- Menus on tables
Please
arrange with us what you should require as welcoming drinks and snacks
on your wedding day. We have a range of sherries and sparkling wine
available.
Please note that all prices quoted are only
guidelines and are calculated on current prices. These prices are
subject to change whenever our costs are raised. The number of guests
confirmed one week prior to the reception is the number you will be
billed for.
